- Backlash and Your CNC - Things You Need to Know. If you have a CNC lathe, the following program will give you an idea of how to create a program to test the backlash for each axis. Listed below are the parameter numbers for the various FANUC control models. One note, lathe controls are T models whereas machining centers are M models.
- Fanuc CNC Lathe program using Noseradius Comp. Before using this program, make sure to put size of noseradius into R in the Offset register, also the number describing the tool into T, usually 3 for OD tools and 2 for boring bars.

Loading programs into a Fanuc 18i-TB?
We are looking at ways to load programs into a Doosan lathe with a Fanuc 18i-TB control. So far, we have only been able to load 2 programs at a time. This can be a problem when you are using complex programs that have many subprograms. Anyone find a way to load a complete program, including all subs at once? We are using a memory card adaptor in the pc card port.

Actually, the programs load just fine. It's saving the programs that is a problem. I should have been more specific in my original post. When saving the programs to a external memory card, only two programs at a time can be saved.

Punching 0-9999 does work. However, there are lots of other programs in the machine since it is a sub spindle live tool machine. Still have to edit out the stuff you don't want later. That's what we are trying to avoid.

On my 10TF, if you PUNCH/PROG/,PROG using two program numbers, it will punch all programs between those two numbers. So.. if I have programs O0015, O0020, O0021, O0022 and O0500, if I use O0015 and O0500, it'l punch those and everything in between. Don't know a thing about the 18i, though.

As beege mentioned, you can output a range of programs by using the comma.:
O1560,O1600 (will take everything from 1560-1600).
The only thing is you'll want your subs numbered within the range of the main program. If you have other part programs within the range you're outputting, it will take those too..
By the way, Willie was showing you how to punch all programs. He's using the letter 'O', not the number zero like you posted. Like this:

The comma command works well. Just what we want. Don't know why the machine installer didn't know that.
Thanks again.

FANUC lathe startup guide
Howdy yall,
my company has just purchased a used Doosan Lynx 220 CNC lathe with a Fanuc 0i-tb lathe control. It has been 10+ years since i have operated a fanuc machine and i have never used a fanuc lathe. I have spent most of my time on a HAAS mill and Lathe.
I am trying to get the basics figured out on how to run this bad boy. I can power it up, but the homing procedure is foreign to me and I aint sure i got it right.
That is just step 1 of my many problems. Does anyone have any kind of Quick startup guide that i may have to use?
I appreciate any help that yall can provide.
Thanks,

I would make another post with the Doosan brand in the title, they have techs that monitor this site. Or just buy the operation manuals.

'Start - up' and Homing are machine specific issues, Not 'Fanuc'.
Check with Doosan.
Best thing that comes to my mind on new controls is 'How doo I start a new program?'
It always seems like the manuals always skip over that - assuming that every joker knows how to, and they're all different.
For manual hand coding:
On a Fanuc - In EDIT - key in O (oh) and then your 4 digit program number and then INSERT.
Then any info that you want to put in (), and then EOB (end of block) INSERT.

On our Fanuc 0-T control and anything older I've been able to do exactly as you say.
On our Fanuc 0i controls I've never been able to get this to work.
I have no idea why? Maybe has something to I/O unput setting idk? I feel kinda retarded but I can't get shit in unless I use RS232 or USB. Lol.. Any thoughts?

My 18i works fine.
By chance are you keying in the EOB before the INSERT?
That won't werk.
???
Actually I have a 16 that won't work via the 232, and I need to git back on getting that sorted out.

Well! Apparently that was exactly what I was doing. I can now do the very first thing you need to be able to do to write a new program at the control. Lol..Originally Posted by OxBy chance are you keying in the EOB before the INSERT?

Thus why I feel that it VERY important for these keystrokes be posted all over the Programming and Opp Manuals, in all make/model controls, but if I ever doo seem to stumble onto the sequence, even then it seems vague at best.

I think with some time I will get this figured out. Thanks to ifixcnc for pointing me in the right direction.Originally Posted by twrI hope he gets its all sorted out, having a tool setter and tool offsets will help alot!!!YES!!! I agree. the (if i remember right) zero point return is a bit wierdly stated for me. why cant they just show the simple proceedures for how to inital power up home a machine. HAAS (my favorite brand for ease of use, please hate me if ya want to ) has a simple one page front and back sheet that is in the front of their manuals which comes with every machine, at least if you buy it from them, that shows you what to do for all of the standard opperations like inital power up, setting work offsets setting tools, MDI, and running programs. ITs kinda nice and i have been spoiled with my local trade school, where i went, which is supported heavily from HAAS also.Originally Posted by OxThus why I feel that it VERY important for these keystrokes be posted all over the Programming and Opp Manuals, in all make/model controls, but if I ever doo seem to stumble onto the sequence, even then it seems vague at best.

As soon as i get this machine figured out, i will be writing up a manual with pictures of what to do for all of the operations that a person will have to do.

Its would be way to easy to have all machines start up the same way! G54 and a tool setter is my dream!!! I had help from Brent/yardbird to figure out my mori with no G54 or tool setter worked, i have to put each tool in each time i make a different part program no tool off sets it sucks but its tank and slow as hell but works great so far!!!
